affiliates across the country, and other online resources of interest to same-sex
couples. (These sites will open in a new window.)
The
Alternatives to Marriage Project
lists a number of resources concerning domestic partnership benefits and legal
issues involving unmarried and same-sex couples.
The
ACLU tracks a wide variety
of social issues and current events and has special sections on HIV
and AIDS and
Lesbian and Gay Rights. They carry lists of cities,
states and counties with domestic partner registration or with at least partial
domestic partnership benefits for government employees.
Partners
Task Force for Gay & LesbianCouples has a site containing more than 200
essays, surveys, legal articles and resources on legal marriage, ceremonies, domestic
partner benefits, relationship tips, parenting and immigration. This is absolutely
the most comprehensive site we’ve found for products, organizations and issues.
Well worth a look just for background information.
The
National Center for Lesbian
Rights tracks legal issues involving gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender
rights, and has an authoritative list of eight documents couples should have to
protect their partnership rights.
The
political action group CAPE
(California Alliance for Pride and Equality) tracks legislative voting records,
status of legislation and lists Bay Area serviceorganizations by region.
Immigration
Equality tracks immigration issues concerning lesbians and gay men and persons
living with HIV and AIDS.
Normally
we wouldn’t list a commercial site, but if you’re having trouble finding that
classic gay comedy or drama at your local video store, try clicking on the “gay
and lesbian” menu tab at TLA
Video.
