August 15 - Our Annual Picnic!

It’s that time again for the fun Couples Summer Picnic! It's coming up on Sunday, August 15, at 12 noon. The picnic will be at the Sycamore Picnic Site of Roberts Regional Recreation Area in Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland hills (the same location as last year).

This year, the picnic will be catered by Back Forty Texas BBQ, compliments of the Couples Group. We'll be having pork ribs, slow smoked beef brisket, BBQ chicken, tossed green salad, fresh fruit salad, BBQ beans, ranch rolls, and assorted cookies.

To ensure plenty of grub for everyone, please RSVP to Jan & Gwen by Monday, August 9.

It's easy to get to Roberts Regional Recreation Area. From wherever you are, make your way to Highway 13 (Warren Freeway) in Oakland. Take the Joaquin Miller Road exit and follow Joaquin Miller Road east for about a mile or so until you reach Skyline Boulevard. Take a left onto Skyline and continue for another half-mile or so until you reach the park entrance on your right to the Roberts Regional Recreation Area. It's easy to find the Sycamore Picnic Site from there near the large parking area. You will see the rainbow-colored streamers and balloons. There's a $5 parking fee. Dogs are welcome, but the park charges a $2 fee per dog.

More information about the park is available at http://www.ebparks.org/parks/redwood#access_info. In addition to good food and great company, the park has numerous walking trails, some wonderful scenery, and, if you're so inclined, a swimming pool.
